OWLS is a monthly program for adults which includes a catered lunch, followed by an indoor nature presentation. In November, we'll hear all about the Mader Farms Wetland Restoration Project from Patrick Mader.

From 2014 - Februrary 2018, the Mader farm in Minnetrista on the western edge of Hennepin County underwent a restoration process from being 41 acres of tiled agriculture land to returning to its natural wetlands. It is the first and only certified wetlands credit bank restoration project in the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District. Packy shares the rewards and frustrations of going through the rigorous process which involved years of engineering, berm construction, dealing with invasive plant species, planting native sedges, grasses, and wildflowers, and even the financial costs and benefits.
