River Bend Rapids September 2020

The summer newsletter is available! Read about what is happening around River Bend and how we are adapting to the new normal.

You're invited to Ramble: Like Never Before the week of September 19, 2020. The RSVP Deadline is extended to Sept. 14. There is the option to register for individual events below. With fun for all ages, make sure to invite your friends and family to participate! Your donations and registrations help create education programs, continue conservation and recreation activities, and ensure that future generations can continue to experience the magic of River Bend Nature Center. Thank you!

Register for the Maple Syrup Fun Run and Pancake Brunch- It is going virtual with pancakes to-go on September 19 from 10am-1pm!

Applications for the Deer Management Hunt-Achery Only are now being accepted and are due NO LATER than September 15, 2020 at 4:00 pm.

In addition to filling out and submitting your application, you must be a current River Bend Nature Center member. Become a River Bend Member or Renew your Membership online or pick up a membership envelope at a kiosk or the interpretive center. Be sure to check the front page of our website for up to date business hours. Find the application and all of the details here

Due to COVID-19, the following policies are for all in person programming.

  • All participants and staff are required to wear masks during programming
  • Hand sanitizer will be provided during/after programming
  • All equipment will be sanitized before and after each use
  • Programs are to be held entirely outside: in the case of severe weather or weather that inhibits an activity to run, the activity will be cancelled
  • As always, if the participant is feeling sick in any way, they must stay home

SEPTEMBER PUBLIC PROGRAMS

Bagels and Birds Saturday, September 5, 9:30-10:30am- FREE!

we are continuing bagels and birds this fall! It will be outside, socially distanced with masks. Please bring your own bagel or snack of choice and a chair. 

Children’s Story Adventures:10am on Facebook Live- FREE!

Pancake Brunch To-Go:Saturday, September 19, 10am-1pm

Come pick up a delicious pancake brunch with real maple syrup made at River Bend!

River Bend Scavenger Hunt: Sunday, September 20, at 12pm

Register for this week-long, self-led scavenger hunt around River Bend. A new clue will be released each day at noon on our social media channels (RiverBendMN). There is a cash prize, along with River Bend specific prizes. The sooner you find the golden ticket, the bigger the prize! You must claim the prize before noon the following day to receive all of those items listed. To claim the prize you need to be registered for this event, or for Ramble.

Virtual Nature TriviaTuesday, September 22, 6:30pm

Join RBNC Naturalists for virtual nature trivia with the potential for prizes! Teams of no more than 5 people are welcome, but each person must register individually and enter the team name in registration.

Walk/Ride and Learn with a NaturalistWednesday, September 23, 10am-3pm at River Bend Nature Center

Register for an hour-long walk or golf cart ride with a RBNC Naturalist. Learn about the history of the land and the local flora and fauna. Note: we can only take 5 people at a time on the golf cart. If this program is cancelled due to weather, the registration fee will be turned into a donation.

Music on the Prairie: The Little Chicago BandFriday, September 25, 5:30pm at River Bend Nature Center

Little Chicago, a pop/rock band from New Prague, covers hit songs from the 60's and 70's from groups like Chicago, Blood, Sweat & Tears, The Grass Roots, and Dusty Springfield. They have been playing together for over 22 years. In the event of rain, a recording of a performance will be made available to ticket holders.
